According to the Basque statistics office Eustat, Donostia-San Sebastián for capitals and el Alto Deba for regions stood out in the percentage of companies using information technology.

Companies of 10 or more employees in the Basque Country, with the exception of the use of e-Commerce, showed high levels of CIT (Information & Communication Technology) equipment in 2012, according to data provided by Eustat. By geographic location, despite the lack of significant differences, Donostia-San Sebastián stood out in capitals and Alto Deba especially stood out in regions for information technology use.
In companies of this size with Internet connections, special mention should be made of the regions of Alto and Bajo Deba in Gipuzkoa, with 100%, Duranguesado in Bizkaia, with 99.5% and los Valles Alaveses in Álava, with 98.7%.
Companies with Internet access and who carry out procedures with public administrations in electronic form were more numerous in the regions of Alto Deba in Gipuzkoa (97.3%), Gernika-Bermeo in Bizkaia (93.7%) and Cantábrica Alavesa in Álava (92.2%).
As regards Internet presence via a website, special mention should be made of companies in the regions of Alto Deba in Gipuzkoa (89.7%), Arratia-Nervión in Bizkaia (88.9%) and Estribaciones del Gorbea in Álava (87.1%).
In terms of computer networks it is worth highlighting the regions of Alto Deba in Gipuzkoa, 98.7%, Arratia-Nervión in Bizkaia, 96.8% and Valles Alaveses in Álava, 95.4%.
Furthermore, the highest percentages of companies with 10 or more employees using open-source programs were in Goierri in Gipuzkoa (85.3%), Gernika-Bermeo in Bizkaia (79.1%) and Cantábrica Alavesa in Álava (77.1%).
Lastly, regarding the use of e-Commerce (purchases or sales via electronic means), in companies of this size, although the percentages reached were a lot more modest, the regions of Bajo Deba in Gipuzkoa (42.8%), Markina-Ondarroa in Bizkaia (33.3%) and Estribaciones del Gorbea in Álava (24,9%) all stood out.
Availability of Basque on Basque company websites.
Websites available in Basque were most prominent in companies located in the regions of Gipuzkoa. In this province they stood at 75.7% in Alto Deba, around 60% in Goierri and Urola Costa and over half of those situated in Tolosa, Donostialdea and Bajo Deba.
Following these were those in Bizkaia, where it was possible to access the language in over half of the websites situated in Markina-Ondarroa and in Gernika-Bermeo.
Lastly, for Álava, over 50% of websites could be accessed in Basque in companies located in la Montaña Alavesa, with the remaining regions having lower percentages.
